The 12th European Universities Rowing Championship will be held in Istanbul this year, the European University Sports Association (EUSA) has announced.

The competition, which is the first EUSA rowing event since the 2019 edition in Jonkoping, Sweden, is due to take place between September 7 and 9.

The EUSA Executive Committee ensured university rowing returned to the agenda as the sport's disciplines will not feature at this year’s European Universities Games, set to be held in the Polish city of Lodz, or the 2024 edition in Debrecen-Miskolc, Hungary.

University rowers from across Europe will head to Turkey for the first time for the tournament, which is being supported by Yeditepe University and the Turkish University Sports Federation.

Registration for the event begins on February 15.

The 2023 European Universities Rowing Championship is scheduled to be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland, while the EUSA are currently seeking organisers for future editions.

Member associations of the EUSA can still apply for hosting rights for the 2024 and 2025 versions.
