World Table Tennis (WTT) has struck two new partnership deals with Double Fish and China Gold.

Sport equipment manufacturer Double Fish Sports Group will continue to be the WTT’s global partner whilst gold and jewellery brand China Gold has become the federation’s Chinese partner.

Double Fish produces table tennis products and has been a long-term sponsor of the commercial and events branch of the International Table Tennis Federation.

As a part of the agreement, they will provide the Official Ball for the 2022 Chengdu and 2023 Durban World Table Tennis Championships, the WTT Women’s events and one Grand Smash per year - one of the newest WTT events, with the first one set to be held in Singapore in March.

The WTT women’s competitions include the Women Champions and the Women Cup finals.

Previously, Double Fish were responsible for supplying equipment for the Macao Showcase in December 2020 and the WTT Middle East Hub and the inaugural WTT Cup Finals in March and December last year.

"It is our honour to support WTT at different events, and we hope more people would love and join in this great sport, especially for the youth," Sam Zhao, general manager of Double Fish, said.

"As a leading sports brand that takes table tennis as the core of our brand DNA and one of our key competencies, we would like to see WTT expanding the game globally and launching new events for the female athletes."

Matt Pound, the WTT managing director, added: "We are thrilled to welcome Double Fish as a global partner of WTT, continuing their support of WTT in redefining the sport of table tennis."

The state-owned enterprise of China Gold is one of WTT’s newest sponsors who will gain brand exposure, ticketing and hospitality opportunities and fan engagement rights at all WTT events hosted in China.

The partnership will also include China Gold providing the trophies for the WTT Champions competition.

Chen Xiongwei, Chairman of China Gold, commented the company "has always advocated the ethics of courage, hard work and a positive outlook".

He continued: "Through our partnership with WTT, we would like to pay tribute to the spirit of continuous excellence table tennis embodies while carrying out China's national strategy of promoting healthy living among its people."

Pound also announced his vision of the new agreement between the WTT and China Gold.

"As the leading gold and jewellery brand in China, I am certain that China Gold will work closely with WTT and our table tennis fans to develop the sport further, conveying China’s table tennis culture and sportsmanship to the world," he said.

The new sponsorship deals follow the WTT’s agreement with Shuijingfang, a Chinese baijiu (red wine) producer.
