A temporary martial arts and fighting centre in Rotterdam is being constructed to prepare for the arrival of a mixture of Dutch martial arts governing bodies, The Netherlands' Boxing Federation, Boksen NL, has announced.

The Federations for judo, sambo, taekwondo, karate, boxing and aikido, a Japanese martial art, will unite at the centre located on Sportlaan, walking distance from the Topsport Centre, a high-performance sports centre.

The Dutch Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation, Rotterdam Topsport and the Topsportcentrum are organising the accommodation of the athletes.

At least five boxing rings and technical staff will be available to provide practical training.

Christian Eskes, the alderman for sports of the municipality of Rotterdam, will formally announce the start of the construction in Rotterdam with all martial arts associations and stakeholders expected to attend.

It is expected the sports association will begin their selection training at the centre from April 1.
