Women’s standing’ athlete Julia Mikeeva, men’s sitting competitor Ivan Golubov and men’s standing athlete Vladislav Lekomtsev swept up both the Para cross-country and the Para biathlon in their categories.

They also each won gold in the biathlon sprints in Östersund, Sweden.

Oleg Ponomarev was victorious in the middle distance classic and sprint freestyle to come first in the men’s vision impaired cross-country rankings.

Vera Khlzova topped the standings in the individual event and sprint, meaning the Para biathlon vision impaired overall crystal globe was hers.

The Russian domination was completed by Anna Panferova in the women’s vision impaired cross-country and Stanislav Chokhlaev in the men’s vision impaired biathlon.

Russia came first in the Östersund medal table with nine golds, 13 silvers and 12 bronzes - 21 more than Ukraine in second.

Meanwhile, Oksana Masters’ impressive year has continued at Östersund 2022 with the overall crystal globe title in women’s sitting.

The American won the middle-distance and sprint events to secure the honour.

She also added a Para biathlon sprint gold to her list of triumphs to take her tally to three titles in four events in Sweden.

After missing the first race at the World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway, due to testing positive for COVID-19, Masters went on to win two golds at the competition.

Fellow American Kendall Gretsch also won a crystal globe in the women’s sitting Para biathlon after achieving a silver medal in the discipline.

The athletes will now move on to the Beijing 2022 Paralympics, due to take place from March 4 to 13.

Competitors will return to Östersund for next year’s World Para Snow Sports Championships, scheduled to take place in January 2023.
