The men's event is due to take place from September 2 to 11, with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) now confirming which cities will be utilised. 

It is set to be the first time Brazil has hosted the tournament since Sao Paulo took the honour in 1984.

Recife and Brasilia will share group matches, but Recife will be the venue for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.

Brasilia will hold games in the Ginásio Nilson Nelsonm, with Recife's Ginásio de Esportes Geraldo Magalhães the other tournament venue.

The 19th edition of the tournament is set to feature 12 countries. 

Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, the United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, and the Virgin Islands have all qualified.

"We are very honoured and excited to bring the AmeriCup back to Brazil after more than three decades," Carlos Alves, FIBA's executive director in the Americas, said.

"I want to express, also, our appreciation to the CBB and to President Guy Peixoto for his support and leadership in securing the host for such an epic competition.

"Both, Brasilia and Recife are amazing cities with a lot to offer on the competition and cultural aspects.

"CBB and FIBA are very excited to bring this level of competition to these cities, their fans, and communities to celebrate our magical game."

The US are the defending campions, having beaten Argentina 81-76 in the 2017 final.
