The Netherlands' Lucinda Brand secured her third consecutive International Cycling Union (UCI) Cyclo-cross World Cup victory in the women's elite race at her home event in Hulst, while Britain's Tom Pidcock won in the men's elite.

World champion Brand has now won six World Cups this season after she recovered from a slow start to finish the 16.87 kilometres race in 49min 14sec.

It was a Dutch one-two-three on the podium, with Puck Pieterse five seconds further back, and Annemarie Worst 11 seconds behind Brand.

Hungary's Kata Blanka Vas missed out on a top three finish by three seconds as she clocked 49:25.

The win extended Brand's lead at the top of the season's standings to 59 points with two races to go.

She now has 402 points, with Denise Betsema of The Netherlands losing ground on 343 after finishing seventh in Hulst and Pieterse rounding off the podium on 295.

In the men's elite race, cross-country Olympic champion Pidcock clinched a second triumph of the season on the UCI's Cyclo-cross World Cup circuit.

He completed the 25.27km race in 1 hr 3min 49sec, beating the overall leader Eli Iserbyt of Belgium by 12 seconds.

Home favourite Lars van der Haar placed third in 1:04:22, some 36 seconds clear of nearest challenger Wout Van Aert of Belgium.

Iserbyt extended his overall lead to 95 points on 405, with his compatriot Michael Vanthourenhout finishing sixth.

Third-placed Toon Aerts, also from Belgium, came fifth and now has 297 points for the season.

The penultimate stage of the Cyclo-cross World Cup season is set to be held in Flamanville in France on January 16.
