The qualification process for rowing at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games has been completed with awarding of final places to four crews via the bipartite process.

Canada and Uzbekistan will have boats to race in the PR2 mixed double sculls event, while Spain and Japan will send a crew in the PR3 mixed coxed four event.

The selections were based on a full and detailed evaluation of the submitted requests by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the World Rowing Executive Committee, who made the four selections.

National Paralympic Committees now have until July 12 to confirm these selections for participation at Tokyo 2020.

Bipartite Commission invitations, which are included in the overall athlete quotas of the relevant sports, are granted by the IPC following engagement with the respective International Federation.

They are typically offered to ensure participation of top athletes who may have not had the opportunity to formally qualify through other methods due to extraordinary circumstances, to ensure the representation of athletes with high support needs, to ensure medal events will have sufficient representation for viability and to enable greater representation by gender.

When Paralympic host Japan qualified a boat through the continental qualification regatta, the host country's quota slots were transferred to the Bipartite Commission for attribution.

It has now decided Canada, Uzbekistan, Spain and Japan are worthy of the available quota places.
