The Turkish city of Antalya, which last month hosted archery's first ranking event since the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, is staging the European Archery Championships that start with qualification rounds tomorrow.

The 2021 European Championships, which will conclude on Sunday (June 6), will include the last Continental Quota Tournament (CQT) for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Three of the four individual champions from the last edition in Legnica in Poland three years ago will be competing in Antalya - men’s and women’s recurve gold medallists Steve Wijler of The Netherlands and Turkey’s Yasemin Anagoz, and women’s compound winner Andrea Marcos of Spain.

Russia’s Anton Bulaev will not be defending his men’s compound title.

After tomorrow’s qualification rounds, individual and mixed-team eliminations are expected to last two days.

Friday (June 4) will be the CQT day for 85 recurve men and 51 recurve women.

There are four recurve quota places on offer for men and four for women, with a maximum of one quota place per gender per nation available in Antalya.

Saturday (June 5) will be dedicated to the recurve finals, with the compound finals on the last day.
