Four tables have been donated by the International Teqball Federation to help the Pakistan Teqball Federation organise events in the future, according to UrduPoint.

A further 56 are set to arrive in the country as a gift for youngsters in Pakistan from the Hungarian Government.

Teqball, a cross between table tennis and football, was invented in Hungary. 

The Embassy of Hungary Islamabad was invited to a ceremony at the Peshawar Sports Complex and Qayyum Stadium.

Tivadar Takács, Hungary’s deputy ambassador to Pakistan, spoke at the event where he praised the efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government to promote teqball.

He said he hoped the introduction of teqball in Pakistan would inspire youngsters to take up the game.

Murad Ali, head of the Peshawar Sports Complex and Qayyum Stadium, said he was happy that Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s largest multi-purpose sports centre was able to expand the range of its activities courtesy of new teqball tables.

The event also saw Pakistani teqball players demonstrate the sport.

FITEQ has added 90 National Federations since it was established in 2017 and received a major boost last November when the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) accepted its application for full membership.

Viktor Huszár, chairman of FITEQ, has set a target of increasing the number of National Federations to "at least" 150 by the end of 2021.

"Our responsibility is to take the table to places where no other chance would enable them to access it," said Huszár.
