International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Showdown has launched a call for bids to host its 2021 World Championships, the most important competition on the sport’s calendar.

The deadline for bids is June 30, 2020 and countries in good standing with IBSA can apply.

Bids must include a letter of support from the relevant member organisation, transport information for teams between the venue and airports, information about the facilities for where the competition will be held and a budget plan.

Interested Federations should submit a bid using the "IBSA competition sanction form - application for approval".

The 2021 IBSA Showdown World Championships will be the seventh edition of the event.

The competition, which is held every two years and features individual and team medal events for men and women, was last held in Italian city Olbia in 2019.

Showdown is a fast-moving sport originally designed for people with a visual impairment, but you do not have to be blind to play.

Sometimes it is mistakenly referred to as table tennis for the blind because it is a table game.
