Anna Fernstädt of the Czech Republic achieved her third consecutive International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Junior World Championships title in Winterberg.

The 23-year-old first claimed the women's skeleton title in 2018 for Germany, and has now earned her second successive title for the Czech team after switching allegiances. 

She is the first skeleton athlete to top the junior world podium three times in a row. 

Fernstädt recorded a winning time of 1min 59.41sec, finishing in front of Germany's Susanne Kreher in 1:59.85 and Hannah Neise in 1:59.89.

Germany were also pipped to first place in the four-man bobsleigh event.

The Russian quartet of Rostislav Gaitiukevich, Vladislav Zharovtsev, Andrey Kazantsev and Mikhail Mordasov were the victors in 1:51.56.

Richard Oelsner, Eric Strauss, Henrik Bosse and Lukas Frytz were the silver medallists in 1:51.63, while fellow Germans Jonas Jannusch, Max Neumann, Tim Gessenhardt and Bastian Heber received bronze for a time of 1:51.69.

The winners of each event are now eligible to compete at the IBSF World Championships in Altenberg in Germany from February 21 to March 1.
