Rowing_calendarOctober 29 - Next week's World Rowing Championships look set to be upstaged by...a calendar!

For in true WI style some of Britain's top stars have stripped off to raise money for a good cause ahead of the World Championships, which are due to open on Sunday (October 31).

Olympic medallists Rick Egington, Matt Langridge, Alex Partridge, Pete Reed and Mark Hunter have all posed for a naked calendar to be published by Mills & Boon at the end of the month.

The sportsmen, along with other team-mates from the world famous Leander Rowing Club -such as Mark Hunter, Marcus Bateman, Tom Wilkinson and Chris Boddy - have their hopes set on bringing back medals from New Zealand this week.

The calendar aims to raise money for the Leander Trust, a charity dedicated to promoting and supporting rowing at grass roots level.

For more than 20 years the Leander Trust has been helping and encouraging school children and students to participate in the sport of rowing, while supporting aspiring and world class athletes to attain their full potential to help underpin future British success at World and Olympic level.
