Russia’s Erdem Tsydypov came through his two men’s recurve matches today to set up a meeting with top seed Lee Woo-seok at the second stage of the Archery World Cup in Shanghai.

Tsydypov, who ranked 32nd in qualification yesterday, beat Iran’s Sadegh Ashrafi 7-1 in round one and Malaysia’s Haziq Kamaruddin 6-4 in round two at the Chinese city’s Yuanshen Stadium.

He will next face South Korea's Lee in round three when action continues tomorrow.

The top seeds in the three other individual events have also learned who their opening opponents in eliminations will be.

South Korea’s Choi Mi-sun will go up against Iran’s Niloofar Alipoor in the third round of the women’s recurve.

As for the United States’ Matt Sullivan and Denmark’s Tanja Jensen, the strongest performers in men’s and women’s compound qualification, respectively, they will have to overcome China’s Xue Zheng and Kazakhstan’s Mariya Umurzakova.

Sullivan’s match is a third-round encounter, while Jensen’s is a second-round clash.

Action in Shanghai is scheduled to run through to May 12.
