The Swedish rink, skipped by Niklas Edin, recorded a narrow 7-5 win over South Korea at the ENMAX Centre.

Victory for Sweden moved them clear at the top of the leaderboard on nine wins and one loss.

"We only have one game today, so we tried to maintain the focus," said Edin. 

"We’ll have a little bit of rest today and come back strong tomorrow hopefully.

Japan, who had already guaranteed their place in this weekend's play-offs, suffered two defeats today.

The Japanese rink lost 6-5 to Switzerland in the morning session before they were beaten 10-4 by Olympic champions the United States.

Japan sit third behind Switzerland, who were on the wrong side of a 6-5 scoreline in their morning session clash with Italy but still finished the day in second.

Canada remain fourth after they endured a mixed day.

The hosts, last year's runners-up, began with a 6-3 victory over the US before they were beaten 8-6 by Scotland in the evening session.

The top six teams at the conclusion of round-robin play will qualify for the play-off stage.

The teams ranked first and second progress directly to the semi-finals, while the third-ranked team will play the sixth-ranked team in one qualification game and the fourth-ranked team and fifth-ranked team will lock horns in the other game.

In the semi-finals, the first-ranked team will play the lowest-ranked qualifier and the second-ranked team will play the other qualification winner.
