Argentina secured victories in the men's and women's International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League against Spain and China, respectively.

The Argentinian men battled back from two goals down to win 3-2 at Estadio Mundialista in Rosario.

Enrique Gonzalez and Juan Catan had seemingly put Spain in control but efforts from Matias Paredes and Lucas Toscani levelled matters.

Maico Casella won the game for the hosts with a penalty stroke in the last quarter.

"We played better in the last quarter, we had opportunities and scored but we didn’t play really good today”, said Paredes.

Their female counterparts beat China by a solitary goal, scored by Silvina d’Elia, who was named player of the match.

“We are really happy to win this game at home," she said.

Olympic champions Great Britain also won in the women's competition at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

They defeated the United States 3-1, recovering after falling behind to Mackenzie Allessie's opener.

Two efforts from player-of-the-match Lily Owsley and a first international goal from Emily Defroand ensured victory for Britain.

It was their first win in the league at the fourth attempt.

Argentina and Britain will play each other in the men's and women's competitions this weekend in Rosario.
