Italy will be chasing another title when the Beach Tennis World Team Championships opens in Moscow tomorrow.

The six-day event is a mixed competition in which each team is comprised of two men and two women.

They will play men’s doubles, women’s doubles and a mixed doubles match.

Russia has hosted the event since its inception in 2012.

The Italians triumphed in the Russian capital's National Tennis Centre in 2017 and will be hoping for similar success once again.

Venezuela have been tipped to be among the toughest challengers this time after junior success last year.

Brazil and hosts Russia, the second and third ranked teams last year, will be among other strong challengers.

Twenty-five nations spanning five continents are entered, although the United States were a late withdrawal.

Junior and senior events will be held.

Aruba and South Africa are each featuring for the first time.
