Marcin Ryszka scored the only goal of the game as Poland won the Blind Football Euro Challenge Cup with victory over Ireland in the final in Kraków.

Ryszka struck just before half-time for the host nation and Ireland were not able to find a way back into the match as Poland held on.

The result was a repeat of the scoreline when the two sides met in the group stage earlier on at the tournament.

Poland are just the third winners of an event first held in 2014.

Istvan Szabó and Szabolcs Orbán continued their goal-scoring form to guide Hungary to the bronze medal.

The Hungarian team claimed a 2-0 win over Belarus to secure the third place.

The tournament is backed by UEFA, the governing body for football in Europe.

The event is held every two years and is aimed at developing the sport across the continent.

The first Euro Challenge Cup was held in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2014, with victory going to Belgium.

The second was staged in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2016, with Romania emerging victorious.
