The Oman Olympic Committee (OCC) has announced that it will compete in 10 sports at this year's Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.

The organisation's Planning Committee made the recommendation following a meeting, according to the Times of Oman.

Sports in which the nation hopes to compete in Indonesia are athletics, swimming, shooting, football, beach volleyball, tennis, sailing, hockey, weightlifting and paragliding.

The Committee, headed by Sheikh Saif bin Hilal Al Hosni, who is also the vice chairman of the OOC, also discussed this year's Summer Youth Olympic Games in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires.

The Asian Games will be shared by Jakarta and Palembang between August 18 and September 2 this year.

The Youth Olympic Games will follow in Buenos Aires between October 6 and 18.

Oman has never won an Olympic medal after competing at every Summer edition since Los Angeles 1984.
