Stephanie Jallen was double bronze medallist at the Winter Paralympics in Sochi ©Getty ImagesAmerican Stephanie Jallen has won the women's slalom standing event at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Alpine Skiing World Cup in La Molina, Spain.

Jallen claimed victory after beating France's five-time world champion Marie Bochet, who finished in second place, by five seconds as the eighteen-year-old posted a time of 1min 31.93sec.

Inga Medvedeva of Russia completed the top three, with German Paralympic slalom champion Andrea Rothfuss back in fourth.

Jallen, a double bronze medallist at the Paralympic games at Sochi 2014, will hope the victory is a sign of things to come with the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships beginning on February 28 in Panorama, Canada.

In the men's event Alexey Bugaev and Alexander Alyabyev ensured a one-two finish for Russia, with Bugaev winning in a time of 1:22.73.

The Russian pair were followed by New Zealand's Adam Hall in third.

The men's slalom sitting event saw a closely fought competition, with less than a second separating the top three, as Japan's world champion Takeshi Zuzuki achieved victory ahead of his team mate Taiki Morii.

The women's event saw five-time Paralympic champion Anna Schaffelhuber seal first place as she set a time of 1:30.39 across her two runs.

She was again ahead of Austria's Claudia Loesch following her victory yesterday, and Schaffelhuber's teammate Anna-Lena Forster

The visually impaired competitions saw Russian Paralympic champion Valerii Redkozuboz and guide Evgeny Geroev take victory in the men's, as they totalled a time of 1:21.60. 

Spain's Ana Maria Selvi Solsona and her guide Esther Noguera I Hidalgo finished the course in 1:52.08) to take gold in the women's.
