Three-time Paralympic gold medallist Miller and team-mate Gemma Collis will be available for autographs, pictures and will take questions from attendees at the event hosted by The Graham Sports Centre at Maiden Castle, Durham University.

The event is aimed at sports fans across the region, and will allow them to discover more about disability sport, as well as being able to try a sport for themselves.

"I'm really looking forward to Sports Fest in Durham and I'm proud to be named as an athlete ambassador when the event comes to the North East for the first time," Team GB Paralympics 2012 captain Miller said.

"Whether you're curious to see whether you might have what it takes to be a Paralympian or if you're just keen to make sport and exercise part of your everyday life, Sports Fest is a great way to get started."

Paralympic sports in Great Britain have enjoyed a rapid growth in popularity since London 2012, and so far 2,500 people have attended one of the four Sports Fest events to date.

Sports Fest attempts to encapsulate the passion for the Paralympics and Collis, a two-time bronze Wheelchair Fencing World Cup bronze medallist in 2014, echoed the sentiments of Miller.

"Whether you're completely new to disability sport or are looking for some inspiration and ideas to take things up a level, Sports Fest is your chance to see what sport can do for you," she said.

"This is an event which is open to people of all ages and impairments and everyone will receive a warm welcome when they come through the doors at Sports Fest. I'd really encourage people to seize this opportunity and sign up to attend."
