The London-based outfit will provide a full range of professional advisory services including tax and accounting for the next year's tournament which is due to take place from September 18 to October 31.

"We are delighted to welcome Ernst & Young as an official tournament supplier for Rugby World Cup 2015," said Rugby World Cup Limited chairman Bernard Lapasset.

"The appointment of a global leader in the accountancy, tax and advisory sector, is critical to the delivery of an event, which is now firmly established as one of the biggest and most popular in the world."

"We look forward to collaborating with Ernst & Young to deliver a record-breaking and special Rugby World Cup on and off the field that will inspire and engage new audiences and participants and drive the growth of rugby worldwide."

Ernst & Young is a tier two sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics signing up as the official provider of consulting services for the Games, while it was the official professional advisor performed at this year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

It joins the likes of Heineken, Land Rover, Société Générale, DHL, Emirates and MasterCard, who have all been named as worldwide partners of Rugby World Cup 2015.

In addition, Clifford Chance has been announced as the official law firm of the tournament, Gilbert as official ball supplier and Canterbury of New Zealand as official sportswear supplier.

Commenting on today's agreement, global vice-chair for advisory at Ernst & Young, Norman Lonergan, said: "Ernst & Young is thrilled to be appointed as official business advisor for Rugby World Cup 2015.
