149610325February 28 - British Olympic champion Helen Glover is set to make her comeback at the Rowing World Cup in Sydney next month, teaming up with Polly Swann as her London 2012 partner Heather Stanning returns to duty with the British Army.

Edinburgh University medical student Swann narrowly missed out on a place in the women's eight at last summer's Olympics due to injury, but she will be given the opportunity to race with Glover at the first regatta of the World Cup, which will be held outside of Europe for only the second time since its inception in 1997, and the first time in the Southern Hemisphere.

Glover and Swann took Britain's first ever women's rowing gold medal in the women's pair at the Olympic course at Eton Dorney, which will host the second regatta of the 2013 World Cup, and the pressure will be on Swann to step-up to the mark to match her partner's lofty ambitions.

The pair will also compete in the women's eight, alongside Frances Houghton, Katie Greves, Beth Rodford, Jess Eddie, Vicky Thornley, Victoria Meyer-Laker and cox Zoe de Toledo.

In the men's, London 2012 men's four gold medallists Alex Gregory, Peter Reed and Andrew Triggs Hodge will compete in the eight, alongside  bronze medallists Moe Sbihi, Tom Ransley, cox Phelan Hill, 2011 World silver medallist Dan Ritchie and rookies Lance Tredell and Matt Gottre.

"The eight is proving fun and a new challenge to brush the winter cobwebs away," said British Rowing's performance director Sir David Tanner.

"It is a good mix of our established big guns and new names.

"We are expecting very competitive women's fields and doubling up into an eight will be a tough challenge with a tight racing schedule but it will also give the chance for plenty of racing at the start of a new season."

Jonathan Walton will compete in the single scull, Graeme Thomas joins Olympians Sam Townsend, Bill Lucas and Charles Cousins in the quad, and newcomers Peter Lambert and John Collins will race in the double.

Brothers Richard and Peter Chambers will also both compete in different events, with Richard racing with Adam Freeman-Pask in the double scull and Peter joins  Chris Bartley, Chris Boddy and Jonno Clegg in the lightweight quad.

Germany, Great Britain and Switzerland are the only teams to have won the overall World Cup, with Switzerland winning once, the inaugural event, Great Britain winning five times and Germany, the most successful nation, winning ten times.
